“ My time at THA has been so much fun and has helped me improve many parts of my hockey game. Adam and Mena helped me develop my skating skills with daily sessions where they focused on edge work and balance. They used repetition and encouragement as a way to teach me good habits. Adam and Rob helped me improve my puck protection and puck placement. I now keep possession of the puck more and control the play more in games. THA has also helped me grow as a person. It offered me a unique opportunity for independent learning. I have become responsible for my own academics, and am learning to take ownership for my own work and be on top of the workload. The teachers keep me accountable for my quality of work, and support me and guide me in staying on schedule for the lessons. In the past three years I have grown as a leader. Because I had built a relationship and trust with Adam, he rewarded me with a lot of responsibility. My leadership skills have been recognized both at school, where I am now Team Captain, and also outside of THA when I have been voted Team Captain on outside teams. I have discovered a confidence in speaking my mind, and have found my own way of keeping order and being encouraging in a group of people. The best part about Transform are the coaches. They are always so encouraging and always push you beyond your limits. They can identify what you need to work on, and how to become stronger. This whole culture and community fits me better than traditional school ever did. The atmosphere around THA is motivating because all the students want to make their goals reality, on and off the ice, and the coaches and teachers are there to help us overcome all kinds of challenges.”
